Lipferns - Cheilanthes spp.

These two species of lipferns occur in Bell county. They seem to have identical habitat preferences growing closely together. The fern on the left will be identified as lipfern 1 and the right fern as lipfern 2.
Lipfern 1

Above are images of lipfern 1 showing both sides of a single frond. The left image is of the upper surface while the right image is of the lower surface with sori present.
Lipfern 2

The above images are those of lipfern 2 again showing both sides of a frond as in lipfern 2.
